Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
Vanilla Glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Gather and measure all ingredients.
  2. Warm the milk to 105–110°F (40–43°C).
  3. Activate the yeast with warm milk and 1 tablespoon sugar for 5–10 minutes.
  4. Mix in the remaining sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the flour and salt until a shaggy dough forms.
  6. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  7. Let the dough rise for 1–1½ hours.
  8. Roll the dough to ½ inch thickness.
  9. Cut the donut shapes.
  10. Let the donuts rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  11. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
  12. Fry each side for 60–90 seconds until golden.
  13. Cool on a wire rack for 3–5 minutes.
  14. Dip into vanilla glaze or coat with cinnamon sugar.
  15. Serve warm or store in an airtight container.

  • Keep the milk between 105°F and 110°F for the best yeast activity.
  • Avoid adding too much flour while kneading.
  • Maintain the oil temperature at 350°F (175°C) throughout frying.
